Pontevedra Folk Dance Team wins 2nd runner up

 By Jacquilyn  Butalon

Capiz State University Pontevedra Campus bagged 2nd Runner up in the CAPIZTAHAN 2022 2nd SAOT CAPIZ: Capisnon Folk Dance Competition held at the CapSU Main Campus, April 24, 2022, via Facebook Live at the Capiz Tourism and Cultural Affairs (PTCA) Facebook Page.

CapSU Pontevedra represented the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pontevedra in the said contest. The event featured eight (8) folk dances as researched by Jose Balcena and Nydia B. Punsalan and spearheaded by the Capiz Provincial Government under the leadership of Gov. Esteban Evan B. Contreras, through the PTCA Office in partnership with the Philippine Folk Dance Society (PFDS) – Saot Capiz Chapter in celebration of the Capiztahan 2022 – the 121st Founding Anniversary of the Civil Government of Capiz.

“Until now, it seems that we are all still floating in the air, it is unbelievable that we will be able to enter the top 3. This is also the first time that the Municipality of Pontevedra garnered a major award in the Folkdance Competition in Capiztahan. It seemed that all the tiredness, fear, and doubt were reciprocated. We only wish to get into the Top 5, but the Lord has given us so much more. To be one of the dancers and represent the Municipality of Pontevedra is a great honor for us. To share the talent that we have and be able to give a good performance. I sincerely thank all those who supported and believed in our ability. If it weren't for the patience and dedication of our dance directors, we wouldn't be able to do that either. We really gave our best, and enjoyed the show”, said Lorence Albert Estorio, one of the members of CAPSU Pontevedra Dance Troupe.
