One hundred bags of
blood were collected in the recently concluded Dugo Mo, Karugtong ng Buhay Ko," a blood donation activity
spearheaded by the College Red Cross Youth (CRCY) of Capiz State
University-Pontevedra Campus held at FADC Hall, on February 23.
Pre-registered and
walk-in blood donors were students, faculty, and staff of the said campus. The
activity was supervised by CRCY Council and Advisers namely: Mrs. Wilna Grace
Erada, RN, and Mr. John Ralph Fayo, EdD.
Dr. Carmelo Adrian
Almeida, the School Physician, together with other nurses and medical
technologists of the Rural Health Unit of the Municipality of Pontevedra was
there to ensure the safe and successful execution of the said activity.
“Kung
mataas imo Hemoglobin, that means madamo kamo extra nga dugo sa lawas nga
puwede e-donate. So indi kamo pagkulbaan kung maubusan kamo sang dugo kay gina-screen
kamo sina,"
Dr. Almeida said during his orientation to blood donors prior to the bloodletting
activity.
Registration, checking
of height and weight, and vital signs were made prior to the orientation and
donation proper to make sure that each donor was fit to donate their
blood.
