 Di biro ang umibig
ni Jomalene Dacles

Di biro ang umibig pinahahalimuyak nito ang bibig-
o irog sa gabing mapanglaw
          ikaw ang nagsisilbi kong tanglaw
                  pinaparamdam mo na ako'y mahalaga,
            hindi man tayo palagi magkasama.

The Key To Success: Positive Thinking and Positive Action

 by Christine Joy Rosales

Positive thinking is a positive state of mind which sees the bright side of life. A positive frame of mind brings more happiness, improves relationships and attracts success into your life. It is a mindset that everyone can build up.

However, if you want material results, such as more money, success in business or a stable job, you need to exert more effort. Getting results requires not only positive thinking, but also positive action.

Develop a positive attitude toward life, expect a successful outcome of whatever you do, but you also need to take any necessary actions to ensure your success.

The following are simple and easy steps to radiate positivity to everyone and for yourself.

1. Allow only feelings of happiness, strength and success into your awareness.

2. Disregard and ignore negative thoughts. Refuse to think such thoughts, by substituting them with constructive, happy thoughts. Every time a negative thought finds its way into your mind, immediately replace it with a positive thought.

3. Before starting with any plan or action, visualize clearly in your mind its successful outcome. If you visualize with focus and conviction, you will be amazed at the results.

4. Associate yourself with people who think positively.

5. Think and find out what action you can take to make people happy, and act accordingly.

6. Think and find how you can improve relations with people around you, and act according to your findings.

7. Pray.

Distance learning: When will it end?

by Nowfredo D. Paglinawan

source: google.com

We have been through a lot of adjustments and difficulties to this new scheme of learning. There are instances that we cry over unfinished modules, missing assignments and other responsibilities we failed to do. There are countless of unspoken battles, frustrations, and stress along in this rigorous and challenging year.

However, few months from now, school year 2020-2021 is about to end. Yet, no one is still certain if face to face classes will resume knowing the current situation of global crisis. But what everybody is certain about is the hope that everything will be back to normal.

Sometimes, our unhealthy habits are another factor that negatively affect our learning behavior. Though, leisure time is important for our health, we always need to know when to start and learn when to stop. Distance learning is a self-directed learning and nobody knows when it will end, thus it is important to adjust and cope with the situation.

Right now, one thing that should never end is the support from our family and loved ones. Most of the time we are struggling over our modules and classes, but we need to prioritize our mental health as much as we are concerned with our grades.

Therefore, in order to finish this school year and the possible years of distance learning,we have to maximize our time and resources, set goals, work progressively, change our unhealthy habits, and start rebuilding ourselves. Only then we can succeed with good health, may it be physical or mental amidst this uncertain days of pandemic.

Hating the rain

by Mary Nestlie Denosta

The cloudy skies are up again,
cold breeze of the wind consume me,
drowning from oblivion and shattering pain,
grieving and sobbing tremendously.

I am hating the rain,
that washes and kisses the stained glass window I'm in,
forcing to enter my colorful room,
and trying to win back everything I fall.

I will never love the rain,
for it only reminds me of you,
I wish the drops would come to lessen,
to forget the sweet  memories we both shared before.

 alunig

ni Ma. Angeny Joy Villanueva

a serene noise

by Emerson Jasper Borres

savor the hours of freedom and solitude

let me hear the songs of universe

howling noise, howling sound

fused by my symphony and voice

louder!louder!let me hear!

divine melody that God have made

help me escape on these silent clangor

the tune I want, I need

strain the ears for any sound

but nothing tickles them

soundless scream I emit then hold

vanished into the mute realm

don't even mind the menace

I just want to hear the clash

the music being seized

must return in a rush

 dapit-hapon

ni Ma. Angeny Joy Villanueva

 Life's game

by Nowfredo Paglinawan

Life is a gamble isn’t it? There are times that we feel victorious and oftentimes living in a lost fortune of our own ontology. We are facilely deceived by fabricated ideas and manipulated by false perspective. We commit mistakes accidentally but we are judged harshly by unpublished stories of societies.

Sometimes, what we see are falsified of and what we believe in seems to be a fictional fairy tale. Our stories only become credible when our readers are on the same shoes of ours. Some might be convinced but others refuse. Anybody can judge and see the fallacy of your story but not everyone will understand the moral of your story.

Thus, life’s game does not end when no one believes and reads your story because our life is unpredictable. Therefore, we should not be frightened to keep writing our own magical story. Everyone is an author, we have our own unique genres worthy to work with among all other fictions.

We face different battles in life everyday. Our victory depends on how we combat every battle along the risky way.

Living in a world full of standards is certainly elusive to blend and fit into everyone’s expectations. We can never publish our worth reading stories if we keep on comparing ourselves to what society has labelled us to be. We can never win the life’s game when we remain subservient with somebody’s standards. We can never be the character we desire to be if we stay along the shadow of failures.

Amidst life’s trials and failures, do not be afraid to gamble despite the uncertainties of triumph. In order to win life’s game and hurdle all the obstacles, we must focus on our own goals and plans. No matter how many times we feel lost if we know ourselves better than anyone else, no weapons can destroy our stories. Keep believing in yourself because that is the secret of every life’s game.

Alaala lang pala

by Joshua Baquilar

aking kalamna'y nalulusaw,

iyong mga salitang,

bawat titik ay nakatatak sa aking puso.

Ngunit sa pagsapit ng umaga,

at sa pagmulat ng mata,

hindi maikakailang ang lahat ng aking nadarama,

isang alaala lang pala.

The Usage of Technology for Teachers in Times of Pandemic

by Carolina II Mateo

Teaching profession is a very challenging job. It requires creativity, resilience and guts. It also requires a person who can adapt in different situations and could manage to create possibilities of a more learner-friendly content.

As we all know, technology is a student and a teacher’s best friend. It makes majority of work less time-consuming and more manageable. Technology is a great help on developing and increasing one’s knowledge and an excellent aid on accomplishing different tasks. Experiencing it first hand, I believe the technological skills earned will be an asset to design a more interactive and collaborative learning in the classroom. Technology truly modernized teaching-learning environment.

With the use of technology teachers can present their lesson in a more exciting way- video presentations, movie clips and music. This will enable them to become more creative in their work and be able to catch student’s attention. The use of technology will improve the teaching-learning process and the ways of teaching.  Teachers can discuss lessons and present it using the technological tools like projectors to be more involved and making use of this in a more realistic setting.  They can also make use of different softwares/apps like Kahoot!, quizzit and the like to easily assess students’ learning in a paperless method. Technology provides enormous support the teachers as well as to the future teacher as the facilitator of learning.

21st century teachers on the new normal setting can make use of technology in different situation. It can enhance one’s competence and can inculcate scientific outlook as to educator, encourage us to imbibe skills to source information with speed and accuracy, and facilitate actively and collaboratively in the learning-teaching environment.

ONLINE LEARNING: ANTI-TACENDA, A PORTAL TO THE THINGS LEFT UNSAID

By: Jacquilyn Butalon

Humans are seems to be a paradox of a paradox; inconsistent yet puzzling-- so do the events and phenomenon. No one have had thought that the happenings we used to read in a Sci-Fi books and used to see in an imaginative and futuristic movies will become the current state of the world that we live in. Now living the life of being dependent on the online applications for school, work, to name a few; a totally different from how we 'used' to live.

Online Learning is an important element in bridging the gap between us and our education. Can you tell us about your coping mechanism?

In the interim, have you ever got an uncontrollable shaking and sweating of your hands while wandering around your place, holding your gadget/s just to find an excellent and stable Internet signal? Have you ever tried to play in your laptop/computers for a fast Internet connection, but it ended up serving you slowly like a sloth? Or worst, have you ever helped the dinosaur not to hit the cacti? Yes! You saved his life, but the dinosaur put your academic state in danger.

Hence we are undoubtedly new to online learning, we asked some students of Capiz State University-Pontevedra Campus to share their funniest, memorable, or sickening moments that they have had experienced so far as they continue to adapt to the new scheme of the 'new-normal education'.

Sharer (1)

"Akon funniest/memorable moment is sang nag toun ko bala for the exam tapos ang ending wala man nag guluwa ang akon ging pang tun-an. In sickening moments naman,  inang na stressed kana bala sa mga ulubrahon mo tapos nadudulaan ka pa gana tungod sa mga gina pa ubra simo nga wala ka man kabalo kung paano makuha ang answer kay wala man face-to-face discussion then dugangan pa sang feeling mo nga wala na sang may ga support simo," B.E- BSABE

Sharer (2)

"Memorable:  samtang naga online class kami, natulogan ko tapos pagbugtaw ko isa nalang ko sa meet. And then,nag-cramming kami pasa samon activity sa statistics nga pila nalang ka minutes due na, pero naka hingabot dyapon ah.”

FUNNIEST: “Ga-meet kami tapos accidentally na open sakon classmate iya camera tas wala sa kabalo ulok-ulok kami sa iya," B.A- BSBA

Sharer (3)

"Sickening moments; For instance, sa online consultation, kung diin tung importante na ang inug-discuss didto paku nag-left caused by the slow of internet connection.

Another is that, kapag gin-mention imu name para mag answer. Although may inug sabat man ko tani pero indi ko mahala kay magamo akon palibot (one time gid sadtu, may points ang makasabat tapos bal-an ko man ang sabat pero kay may nagasarahe sa luyo namon balay indi kahala kay gapanglalapaw ang tunog),” B.C-BSBA

Every day is a battle filled with uncertainty. Yet nevertheless, these blockage must not hinder our eagerness to collect and discover new things amidst this pandemic. We are the writer of our own book and history, we are responsible of making the ending that we want. Let the resiliency of CapSUnians glow. Hindrances such as poor signal, environmental noise, and procrastination-- well, let us still continue the adventure.

The coping mechanism below could might help you..

Online Prank: Harm Outweighs Fun

by Christian Villamor

In a time where pandemic disease havoc to lives and economies in the world, everyone strives to sustain their daily needs. Yet, for some people, pandemic crisis is not a big deal at all. They even made fun of it to have some entertainment.

Various posts and stories of delivery drivers being pranked by customers through ‘order-cancellation’ are widely-spread in social media. These incidents are concrete evidence of how people outweigh emotions over intellect. Once entertained, they do not care about consequences anymore. This made me realized that at some points, some social media people tell netizens that it’s okay to play with feelings and get satisfied with “entertainment” they think they give to their viewers setting aside the feelings of people got pranked. What do they get in return? Millions of views? Monetary reward? Fame?

Playing someone’s feelings for entertainment is never fun. It causes stress and trauma to not just the person, but to his/her family as well. Whatever satisfaction or material rewards they get from this activity on social media, these cannot overpower the fact that at some point they played with other peoples’ emotions.

May we all be mindful of the words we utter, more mindful of our actions via social media platforms, and most mindful of the emotions and feelings of our audiences, in general. Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach once said and I put emphasis once more: Think before you click.

If we were like Seasons

by Christian John Villamor

I asked myself a simple question,
What if there is a reason for every emotion,
What if emotions are like seasons?
Like the satisfying morning dew,

Would there be enough reasons?
Or the loud and terrifying thunder,
Is it the beginning of something new?
Does that mean fear or anger?
Not sure if it would be better or can wither,
What if my love for you was like winter?
Will my heart be frozen and might turn cold?
Or melt with heat and emotions unfold?

What if our love was like spring?
Not sure if it’s true or just a fling,
It’s not too cold yet not too hot,
Our love might be lacking and not a lot.

What if I loved just like summer?
Is that love I felt in my heart?
Heated, short, and not enough for each other,
What if I fell for you like leaves in fall?
Or just desire for a fresh new start?

I’ll put you first above all,
Why did I compare my love to every season?
Would you stay and never lie?
Or get blown away and say goodbye?
Why a sand glass that’s limited every hour?
And not an eternity of galaxy fusion,
Why not like a never ending meteor shower?
They’re not as complex as a never ending sea,
But there’s one good thing that hit me,
Seasons are not dull as galaxies could be,
At least seasons are easy and in glee.

I think I’ll believe myself more,
So, is loving you with every season better than with every universe?
Or is it a bad idea and might end up worse?
And if we were like seasons,
Rather than something that’s impossible to endure.
At least my belief about love has colors of every hue,
I have thousands of reasons,
For loving you…

 First day of Winter

by Jacquilyn Butalon

Something weird happened just after fall,

'Cause yesterday it felt like no one knew me at all,

I thought the loneliness in me would never subdue,

But the black and white shades faded when I saw you.

I'm not really sure about trusting my rapidly beating heart,

The love in me was never really at start,

Should I trust my mind and start being true?

Stay alone and not mind what happened when I saw you.

But you caused the change when I looked into your eyes,

I suddenly felt the fluttering butterflies,

Because just when my heart was about to wither,

You gave it a beat on the first day of winter.

Bawat tao ay nangangailangan,
isang kaibigan na maaaring sandalan.
Nakikinig sa bawat problema,
nagpapayo at marunong umunawa.

Mga tawanan at biruan ,
sa kanila lagi ang pinagmulan.
Maging kaalamn at karunungan,
na dumaloy sa aking kaisipan.

Patuloy sana tayong maging matatag,
na hindi kailanman mabubuwag.
Kabutihan sana'y mamayagpag,
sa habambuhay nating pagsasamahan.
